Background

AdLib started out as a service for running customized display ads based on specific user targeting. For example, it's your buddy's birthday, and you used AdLib to wish her well around the web on her special day. AdLib has since pivoted to influencer marketing, but I enjoyed working on an identity that reflected the original, more lighthearted intent of their business.

RESULTS

Logo Design

AdLib's founder wanted a logo that exemplified the fun, playful nature of the product, yet harked somewhat literally to it being an advertising-based service. He wasn't totally happy with the (many) options he was seeing from a previous vendor, so I was engaged in hopes of benefitting from a fresh take.

The result was anchored by a personified "ad", with skewed corners, letters for "eyes", and a "smile" that both completed the cartoon-ification, and emphasized the core of the business.

The founder was having a difficult time settling on a color scheme, both within his app and in the parent identity. My solution was to eschew a standard color scheme altogether, and instead define a extensible palette of eleven that could be used in a variety of combinations. This approach not only eliminated the need to settle on two or three colors, but also created a framework suited to the spirit of the app.
